Alameda Graffiti Theme

Theme? Did you say THEME? Yeah, we’ve got one! We will be painting the town red, with our own version of Graffiti, on February 20, 2010. The auction theme is a reference to the classic movie, American Graffiti, directed by George Lucas. This movie is packed with more stars and rising stars than you can imagine (Harrison Ford, Ron Howard, Richard Dreyfuss, Cindy Williams (of Laverne and Shirley fame), Mackenzie Phillips, and more)!

American Graffiti is a compilation of four separate, yet intertwined vignettes, outlining the lives of some teenagers as they prepare to leave high school and move into adulthood. The movie is set on a hot summer night in Modesto, California in 1962.

Wait a minute! 1962 ... I thought this was the 50s! Well, 1962 was a bit like the 50s! Cruisin’ and hangin’ out at the diner were still the things to do! JFK was president and asking these kids to consider joing the Peace Corps. It was before the Beatles and the hippies, and Brylcreem must still have been in hot demand.

So what should I wear? Well, let’s just say "See the Gazette" for inspiration!
