The Alameda School Foundation raises money to fund staff positions at Alameda. Positions include full time staff as well as critical part time staff such as reading assistants. Run entirely by parent volunteers, the Foundation manages the Annual Appeal, the Auction and other events that raise money and connect parents to the school community. One-third of the money raised for staff funding (beyond the first $10,000 of which Alameda keeps 100%) goes to the Portland Schools Foundation Equity Fund grant program to help schools less able to raise money to close the achievement gap.
